With the average plastic taking 450 years to decompose, it is imperative that all plastics are reused and recycled where possible.
At Valley Trading we are aware that plastic is one of the most commonly used materials in today’s world. It also, unfortunately, does not decompose quickly. As a result, it is one of the worst materials to end up in a landfill site. Consequently, we strive to ensure the highest rates of plastic recycling possible.
We are responsible plastic recyclers. This means that we are wholly committed to diverting all plastic that enters our recycling facility away from landfill or incineration, which are both in the long term hold acutely destructive consequences for the environment. Instead, at Valley Trading we see waste as a valuable, reusable and cost-effective fuel.
When we collect any plastic waste, it is first subjected to a rigorous and thorough sorting process. This allows us to completely separate all material groups for one another to prep them for recycling. Once we have sorted out the plastics, we then sort these further by plastic type as each requires a different recycling process. Once sorted as precisely as possible, these plastics are then baled by type, stored and then bulk sent to our partner plastic recycler. Sending by bulk, again, reducing our environmental impact but condensing many trips to just one.
From here, these plastics go on to be recycled into all sorts of reusable products, including plastic bottles, pencils, patio furniture, carpets, fleece and even recycling bins, to name a few. Other plastics are simply shredded into smaller plastic flakes which can then be reused to make useable plastic sheets by being melted down and processed into granulates to be remoulded and reused. This is a very common method of recycling plastics and it is extremely effective as making plastic uses 75% less energy than creating new or ‘virgin’ plastic from scratch.
At Valley Trading, we are constantly reviewing our processes to ensure that they are evolving with the times to guarantee that our plastic recycling methods are as efficient and as sustainable as possible. For instance, we are regularly investing in infrastructure and the very latest state-of-the-art machinery to achieve our goal of diverting all materials from landfill.
This dedication is visible via our state of the art fleet which includes a whole range of vehicles designed to ensure maximum recycling rates are achieved across our full range of services, ultimately benefiting the environment and providing significant cost savings for our clients.
