At Valley Trading we can take care of, dispose of and recycle all your old and unwanted carpet.
At Valley Trading we are aware that currently, carpet is covering most of the UK’s floors. As a result, it is unsurprising that over 500,000 tonnes of waste carpet are generated every year. With such a large amount of carpet being disposed of, recycling becomes even more important.
Unfortunately, carpet does not decompose quickly. As a result, it is one of the worst materials to end up in a landfill site. Consequently, our mission is simple; to ensure the highest rates of carpet recycling possible.
We are proud to be responsible carpet recyclers. This means that we are dedicated to filtering all carpet away from landfill and incineration, which are both, in the long-term, very bad for the environment and economy. Instead, at Valley Trading we see waste carpet as a valuable, reusable and cost-effective resource.
When we collect or receive any waste carpet, first we thoroughly sort the carpet. This allows us to completely separate all material groups for one another to prep them for recycling. Once we have sorted the carpet we store and bale it. When we have a considerable amount of waste carpet stored, only then do we send in bulk to our partner plastic recycler. Sending by bulk further reduces our environmental impact but condensing many trips to just one.
From here, all waste carpet is shredded and in the main, from our fully licenced recycling facility in Tetbury, is recycled into animal bedding and horse arena surfacing.
At Valley Trading, we are always reviewing and adapting our recycling processes to ensure that we can guarantee that our carpet recycling methods are as efficient and as sustainable as possible. As a company, we are regularly investing in infrastructure and the very latest state-of-the-art machinery to achieve our goal of diverting all materials from landfill.
